The Greatest Short Stories Yet to be Written

The title pretty much says it all, but just in case you are still curious, I will attempt to describe what I am trying to do.  To begin with, if you are not interested in short stories, you probably want to move on.  I am not sure why short stories seem to have become the black sheep of the literary world, but I am working to change that.  Short stories differ from their longer form relatives, but there is beauty in that difference.  While it is true that short stories do not allow for the same time frame to allow for a deep character, plot, and thematic development, they do offer what I like to refer to as a healthy snack for the mind.

Short stories demand more from both the author and the reader.  The author has to develop their prose in a well, short amount of time.  They must be precise in their diction, and there is no room for surplus.  The reader must open themselves up to this form.  They must accept that the short story, if well written, can be both satisfying and enlightening.
